Altar serving is a wonderful example of "stewardship" for our young people, offering your time to help our parish community during celebration of the Mass. Altar servers have many different responsibilities during Mass, but they are easy to learn. The coordinator leads new servers in a "training session" here at chrch which lasts about 1 hour, scheduled at your convienience. New servers are then paired with experienced servers for several Masses, to get comfortable learning those procedures (e.g. carrying the cross/candles during processions, holding the Lectionary for the priest, assisting the priest during the Liturgy of the Eucharist).  The only requirements for volunteering as an altar server is that the server should have made their First Communion (entering 3rd grade or higher). If you, or someone you know, is interested in alter serving at St. Mary's, please contact Fran Maurais, St. Mary's Altar Server Coordinator, at (860)664-0804 or
